Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip made a visit to Cornwall on Friday 17th May. They visited St Ives and St Michael's Mount, where they stopped and left their permanent footprints in casts at the foot of the medieval castle.
As they arrived at St Ives train station on the royal train, they were met by the Camborne Youth Band led by Alan Pope. The band played a compilation of bond film pieces in recognition of the Queen’s debut acting role during the opening of the London Olympics.
This was received well as the Queen and Prince Philip stopped briefly to listen to the band play. They have a reminder of their visit to St Ives as a copy of the Youth Band's latest CD/DVD, featuring the town’s wonderful charm, returned with the Royal couple to Buckingham Palace. Their trip will also include a tour of the lifeboat station and the Tate gallery. This will not be the first high profile engagement for the youngster, last year they also took part in the Olympic Torch Relay and Brass the Baton project which ran in conjunction with the London games.
