Members of the Camborne Youth Band, under the name of Camborne Junior Contesting, are preparing for the National Brass Band Championships this weekend. The event takes place at the Racecourse in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire on Saturday September 21.
The contest starts on Saturday afternoon when sixteen bands will take to the stage to try to impress the adjudication duo of Derek Southcott and Gareth Pritchard on the Philip Sparke work, ‘A Malvern Suite’. Alan Pope will lead the band after rehearsals have gone well at their Tuckingmill base in Camborne.
