Success at the National Finals 2015

Camborne Junior Contesting Band is still celebrating after being placed second in the Third Section at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at Cheltenham on Sunday 20th September.

Months of hard work and dedication paid off in style as the band gave a vibrant rendition of Oliver Waespi’s “The Graces of Love”, inspired by a book published in 1602 by Cesare Negri, the famous Renaissance dance master to the Milanese court.

Playing 14th out of 18, the players were praised for their energy, drive and excellent dynamics, giving a performance described by 4barsrest.com as “a lovely rendition full of youthful endeavour and commitment, so stylish and well delivered.” British Bandsman applauded the “youthful exuberance” and “beautiful middle band sounds.”

The band is now focusing on the Regional Finals in March 2016, when they will perform Philip Harper’s “The Mermaid of Zennor”—hopefully a good omen!
