The Camborne Youth Band has been awarded a grant of £3000 from the West Cornwall Youth Trust (WCYT), which has been used to purchase new uniforms, including waterproof jackets, recently used for the first time Remembrance Sunday in Illogan (pictured).
Trustee, Michelle Smith, said: "We spent the grant money on new uniform, suit carriers for when we travel to contests and waterproof jackets. We will wear the jackets at outdoor engagements in cold and wet weather and particularly when we are out playing carols.
We have numerous engagements in the run up to Christmas including Truro's Reindeer Parade, Heartlands' Christmas Market, late night shopping in Truro and playing outside Tesco in Camborne, Pool and Redruth. We would not have been able to afford to buy these items without the grant, so we are therefore very grateful to WCYT for their generosity and for their support of the band."

The trust was established in 2010 to provide support to deserving young people in Cornwall through financial assistance or grants to charitable organisations, with a view to enabling them to take part in worthwhile activities that they may otherwise not be able to afford.
